In a significant advancement for the agricultural technology sector, Varda, a data service provider founded by Yara, has announced a partnership with Slow Philosophy, an agrotech company dedicated to guiding decision-makers on crop cultivation. This collaboration aims to integrate Varda’s Global FieldID™ with Slow Philosophy’s innovative Agroscoring solution, enhancing agricultural efficiency and sustainability.

The Global FieldID establishes a geospatial reference framework that will be seamlessly integrated into Slow Philosophy’s Agroscoring platform, a tool designed to aid policy makers, investors, and agribusinesses in making informed decisions about farmland usage. By merging these technologies, stakeholders will gain access to comprehensive agricultural reference indices and detailed assessments of farmland, supporting efforts to improve productivity and health in farming practices.

Agroscoring serves as a vital resource for key stakeholders, offering insights that contribute to rural development activities, including agribusiness and environmental management. The platform aims to create a holistic understanding of farmland conditions, facilitating better planning and investment strategies in agriculture.

With Varda’s Global FieldID, each agricultural field is mapped and assigned a unique identification number, akin to a QR code. This innovative system will enable streamlined data sharing among stakeholders, ensuring that relevant information is readily accessible. As a result, farmers and agricultural stakeholders will be better equipped to evaluate their land for optimal production while considering climatic risks and soil conditions.

The integration will provide essential insights regarding soil health and environmental conditions, including detailed weather data, accumulated precipitation, humidity levels, and metrics for monitoring carbon neutrality. These insights will empower farmers to accurately assess the health of their farmland and identify areas for improvement.

Raúl Sánchez, CEO of Slow Philosophy, emphasised the importance of this partnership, stating, “This collaboration represents a pivotal moment in our mission to transform the agricultural industry. It not only enhances land assessment technology but also empowers farmers and stakeholders with actionable insights. Our commitment to sustainable farming is reinforced by ensuring that every decision contributes positively to soil regeneration and crop efficiency.”

Davide Ceper, CEO of Varda, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential impact of their partnership. “The insights gained from this collaboration will be crucial in advancing our shared vision of a sustainable, resilient, and transparent agricultural ecosystem. By providing stakeholders with data-driven insights into their fields, we can foster a collaborative environment that benefits all parties involved in the supply chain. Our Global FieldID service is intended to serve as a digital public infrastructure, reflecting our commitment to collaborative data sharing going forward.”

As the agricultural sector faces increasing challenges from climate change and resource constraints, this partnership represents a proactive approach to ensuring the sustainability and productivity of farmland. By leveraging advanced technologies and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, Varda and Slow Philosophy are paving the way for a more resilient future in agriculture.
