Saudi Arabia’s Future Minerals Forum (FMF) will participate in the China Mining Conference and Exhibition, to be held from October 15-18, 2024, at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. The FMF, organised by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, is a leading global gathering focused on the production and sustainable development of minerals.

FMF’s involvement will be part of Saudi Arabia’s national pavilion, signalling the Kingdom’s commitment to building international partnerships in the mining sector. With its next forum scheduled for January 2025, FMF aims to use the opportunity to engage with Chinese mining companies and broaden its market reach by showcasing investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia and other regions.

China, as the world’s largest producer and consumer of minerals, plays a key role in the global mining industry, particularly in areas related to decarbonisation technologies and industrial development. By participating in the China Mining Conference, FMF hopes to attract Chinese companies to collaborate on new ventures, exchange knowledge, and drive sustainable practices across the global mineral supply chain.

Ali Al-Mutairi, Executive Director of the Future Minerals Forum, highlighted the significance of the event for fostering international cooperation. “The China Mining Conference offers a unique opportunity to strengthen ties with Chinese industry leaders and bring together key players to advance responsible mineral production. We are keen to explore potential partnerships that will contribute to sustainable mineral supply chains,” Al-Mutairi stated.

The Future Minerals Forum has grown in prominence since its inaugural edition in 2022. The next forum is scheduled for January 14-16, 2025, in Riyadh at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center. The event serves as a key platform for connecting industry players, governments, and investors, while promoting sustainable and responsible mining practices.

The 2025 forum is expected to focus on expanding global market opportunities and supporting the growth of key industries such as green technology. Chinese companies, already significant investors in the global mining sector, will have access to valuable networking opportunities at the event.

The FMF has become a hub for international collaboration in the minerals sector. At FMF 2024, which saw the attendance of 75 government representatives at its Ministerial Roundtable, over US$20 billion worth of deals were announced. These agreements addressed critical mineral needs for sustainable industrial growth and green technology development, making the forum a key player in driving the future of the global mineral industry.

Saudi Arabia’s participation in the China Mining Conference reinforces its commitment to fostering international ties and building a sustainable future for the mining sector. With its strategic partnerships and growing influence in the global mining industry, FMF continues to serve as a catalyst for significant developments in the sector.

As the world moves toward cleaner and more sustainable industrial practices, FMF aims to be at the forefront, facilitating cooperation between nations and promoting responsible mining operations. The collaboration with Chinese companies is set to strengthen this vision, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for the mineral industry.
