Rhug Estate, a vast 12,500-acre organic farm near Corwen, is gearing up for a thrilling Halloween celebration, featuring a myriad of activities designed to delight families and frighten the faint of heart. The estate is ready to host its first-ever Pumpkin Festival, with up to 3,000 pumpkins available for picking, set to begin on Saturday, October 26, and continuing for six days.
Building on the success of last year’s Halloween festivities, Rhug Estate is set to attract thousands of visitors from North Wales and beyond. The event promises a packed schedule of exciting attractions, including special guests from Animal Encounters who will conduct “Face Your Fears” workshops. These interactive sessions will feature an array of creepy crawlies, reptiles, and spiders, aiming to educate and entertain participants.
Lord Newborough, the owner of Rhug Estate, expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s Halloween celebrations, saying, “Last year’s Halloween celebrations were so popular we decided to do more for our loyal customers and visitors this autumn. The organic pumpkin picking was a huge hit with families, so we have introduced further activities across the Estate to make it an even more fun – and frightening! – experience.”
In addition to pumpkin picking, the festival will offer a variety of foraging fun sessions led by Living Wild, focusing on “Witches and Webs.” Attendees can also participate in ghastly games, embark on a spooky farm walk, and enjoy warm treats, including monstrous marshmallows and horrific hot chocolate, available from the estate’s award-winning shop, café, On the Hoof takeaway, and drive-thru service.
Children can unleash their creativity with crafting sessions, where they can make their own witch’s broom, magic wand, spider’s web, or ghosts and ghouls. Emyr Owen, Estate Farm Manager from Llanrwst, emphasised the family-friendly atmosphere, stating, “There will be lots to keep children and parents entertained, so we look forward to welcoming people for a spooky and unforgettable half-term at Rhug.”
Upon arrival, visitors will find clear signage around the car park and farm shop, guiding them to the pumpkin patch and various attractions. An activities sheet and map will be available for guests, ensuring everyone can navigate the estate with ease. It’s important to note that while booking is required for the workshops, there is no need to reserve a spot for pumpkin picking.
