Frozen food distributor Central Foods has announced a strategic partnership with Tyson Foods’ UK division to enhance the distribution of Tyson’s products to independent frozen food wholesalers across the country. This collaboration aims to expand Tyson’s reach in the growing UK food service sector, providing a selection of quality chicken products that complement Central Foods’ existing range.

The partnership will see Central Foods distributing a variety of Tyson Foods’ popular items, including Hot ‘N’ Kickin® crispy chicken wings, chicken breast kebabs and skewers, coated chicken fillets, and crispy inner chicken fillets. These offerings will augment Central Foods’ own-brand Golden Valley Foods poultry range, enhancing the choices available to customers in the food service industry.

Gordon Lauder, Managing Director of Central Foods, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. “We are very pleased to be working with Tyson Foods to extend the company’s distribution network in the UK,” he stated. Lauder highlighted Tyson Foods’ reputation for providing great-tasting, high-quality food, along with their strong environmental and sustainability credentials. He emphasized that increasing distribution for their brand aligns well with Central Foods’ commitment to delivering excellent products to its clients.

Tyson Foods, founded in Arkansas, has evolved from modest beginnings to become a global food giant and a leader in the protein industry. The company produces approximately 20% of the beef, pork, and chicken consumed in the United States and boasts a diverse brand portfolio. Through strategic expansions and acquisitions, Tyson Foods has established itself as one of the largest food companies worldwide, focusing on delivering high-quality protein products.

Phil Eccleston, Commercial Director at Tyson Foods Europe, noted the importance of the UK independent frozen food service wholesale sector, stating, “This is an important and growing market for Tyson Foods. Our partnership with Central Foods will allow us to further expand our business and geographical coverage in an innovative way.” This sentiment underscores the potential for growth within this segment of the market, as demand for frozen food products continues to rise.

Central Foods has built a strong presence as one of the leading frozen food distributors in the UK, serving over 200 independent wholesalers as well as larger national and regional distributors. The company prides itself on being a catering partner across various sectors, supplying products to hotels, restaurants, bars, universities, schools, pubs, care homes, garden centres, leisure outlets, and more.

The partnership between Central Foods and Tyson Foods not only promises to enhance the product offerings available to food service businesses but also aims to elevate the standards of frozen food distribution in the UK. As consumer preferences continue to shift towards convenient and high-quality food options, collaborations like this one are essential in meeting the evolving demands of the marketplace.
